a. Note:   Twp to Peter and Kate Gehrig Esch on 2/14/1905. Valentine was betterknown as Fally (the "V" in German is pronounced as "F"), Val, or as hepreferred, "V.D." Fally was a very good farmer and horse man. He hada great sense of humor and enjoyed a good time. Because of RheumaticFever contracted when still a youth, he was in very poor health withan enlarged heart his entire adult life. He died in his sleep at theage of 55.
