Note: 1881 census for Scotland and found only one Isabella married to a Henry Topping. They lived in Slamman, Stirling Henry age 27 was a coal miner, Isabella age 25 was born in Glasgow and their children were Henry age 3, Archibald age 2 and Isabella age 5 months.
Family history is contradictory. Isabella Fish Inman Lindsey states one grandfather died in England (John Fish), one in Illinois (Henry Topping?) and a step-grandfather in 1926 (Joseph McAllister Hurst). Isabella Hurst Greaser (daughter of Henry Topping Hurst) says Henry Topping died in a coal mining accident in Scotland. Based on Isabella Ferguson Topping's marriage to Joseph Hurst in La Salle County, Illinois in 1885 and comments that Isabella Angus Topping Hurst immigrated to the US at the age of 9 months, would indicate that Henry Topping died in the US, possibly Illinois.
