On 14 March 1944, Ignacy Jaroslaw Chuderski legally changed his name to Robert John Wheeler. Listed that way with SSN 096-03-1483. See Certificate of Naturalization #5887887 Ignacy arrived in the USA through the port of New York on the Feb. 24, 1906 aboard the ship called Breslau out of Bremen, Germany. The Lenius "Genealogical Gazetteer of Galicia" has a community of Hlibo~w (Hlibiv in Ukrainian) that was in the district of Skal~at. The name of the Roman Catholic parish for the community was Grzymal~o~w; the Greek Catholic, or Ukrainian Catholic parish, was Hlibo~w. This area was in Eastern Galicia and and is east of Lwo~w or Lviv. From 1772-1918 this area was part of the Austrian Empire, as a result of the Polish Partitions, 1772-95. (Although, an area around Tarnopol in this area of Eastern Galicia was an independent Duchy during the period of the Napoleonic Wars when Poland was briefly resurrected as a country). The Roman Catholic church for people from Hlibo~w is at Mrzygl~o~d, while the a Greek Caholic church is in Hlibo~w. The Roman Catholic church at Mrzygl~o~d belongs to the diocese of Lwow. a place called Hlibiv at 49/21 latitiude, 25/59 longitude. This would be southeast of Lwow, near Ternopol. This region was formerly Galicia under Austrian rule. According to Eugene Smith's TransAtlantic Passenger Ships Past and Present the Breslau was built by the Bremer Vulcan Co. in 1901. Her tonnage was 7,524 and her dimensions were 429'x54'. She was a twin screw capable of 12 1/2 knots maintained two masts and one funnel.
