Note: 913. Before he commenced work at the Lakes Creek Meat Works as Canning Foreman and moved into the office as a pay clerk, Herb worked as a clerk for a Real Estate agent. On a web site for the Central Queensland University, http://elvis.cqu.edu.ao/cqulibrary/cqcol/IndexNew.htm, there is an index for a biography of Rockhampton by Olivia Jane Abbey. Under the heading AMBULANCE BRIGADE is an index of photographs. Number 66 in that series is: 1932. The C.Q.M.E. Co. Ltd. (Central Queensland Meat Export Co.), Lakes creek ambulance class. Note: Herb was cremated at Mount Thompson Crematorium, Brisbane, Queensland, and his ashes buried in the same plot in the North Rockhampton cemetery as his mother & father, Samuel & Mary Harbourne. Herbert was enrolled at Lakes Creek State School 21/7/1

Note: e. The marriage took place at 4.00pm followed by a reception at the National Hall, Alma Street, Rockhampton. Witnesses at the ceremony were Leslie Claude Harbourne and Ettie Elaine Watts. For their honeymoon, they flew to Brisbane to board the liner RMS Strathaird for a cruise to New Zealand. The ship arrived in New Zealand on 17th December 1937. During their time in New Zealandthey did some sight seeing, attended dances and a horse race meeting. The ship arrived back in Sydney on the morning of 23rd December 1937.
