Note: In interview of Carlo Britain Hoskins given to C.W. Hoskins 27 April 1941, he states: "Polly Sloan, the daughter of Tommy Sloan, a native born at Ireland"......".first married Samuel Moseley" Marriage license reads: Kentucky Clay County, S.S. I hereby certify that bond and security is taken in my office for a license to issue for a marriage intended between Samuel Mosley & Polly Sloan. These are therefore to license and permit you to join together in the Holy Estate of Matrimony the said Samuel & Polly according to the rites and ceremonies of your church and for so doing this shall be your sufficient warrant. Given under my hand this 13th day of April 1833 A. Baker" Marriage Bond reads: Know all men by these presents that we Samuel Mosely & Asa Gilbert acknowledge ourselves indebted to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of 850 current money which payment shall and truely to be made we bind ourselves & our heirs jointly severally and finally by these presents sealed with our seals and dates this 13th day of April 1833. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above bound Samuel Mosley is about to obtain a license for a marriage intended between Mosely & Polly "Slone" now should there be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then this obligation shall be void, else in full force and virtue. ____ his A.
