 Mickey who was a local fixture at the Veteran�s Memorials at the State Capital Campus where he played taps on his harmonica to 178 shipmates who were lost on the USS New Orleans during World War Two passed away at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. He was featured on a few occasions in articles in the Olympian.
 He joined the US Navy Veteran, enlisting on his 16th birthday, with service in both World War Two and in Korea. He was station on the USS New Orleans and USS John A. bole. Mickey was a decorated veteran and was in 17 of the 18 major battles in the Pacific Theater.
 His working days were at Foss Tugs of Tacoma, he was bartender at Fern Hill Tavern for 32 years and grounds keeper at Nisqually Valley Golf Course for 10 years.
 He graduated from Yelm High School, cap, gown and all a few years back , when they honored those who weren�t able to graduate because they were serving in World War Two.
 Mickey was a lifelong mason, a VFW member, a member of the Cruisers Sailors Association and a member of Veterans of Underage Military Service.
 Mickey was a practical joker and was famous for his sense of humor and he loved a good joke. Golf, painting and writing were also things that he enjoed.
 The people in his life were Lorraine, who preceded him in death, his sons, Shawn (Chris) Donnelly, Jerry (Pam) Donnelly, Step Sons, Dan(Beverly) Smith, John(Jeanette) Smith, Step Daughter Kathryn (Hal) Eide, 9 grandchildren , 6 great grandchildren.
