Notes
a. Note:   Pappy was raised on the road leading to Uncle Alfred's farm house called the Ramey place and two other places. He united with the Blue Spring Baptist Church of Caldwell County in early life. Pappy bought his 32 acres from Judge Mitchell and more from Tom Sanders. He bought his ground by raising hogs and driving them to the river with oxens. At that time there was a plentiful market for them. Judge (Tom) Mitchell owned a lot of ground. Pappy could play the fiddle and the younger grandchildren remember him playing. I can remember only him picking it up and striking it with the bow, but his hands was too crippled to play. He was a great story teller and loved to tell stories around the fire light. Tho I can't remembr them all, I remember, the Headless horseman and the Carriage from the Sky at the death of his sister. He was a craftsman, and made many things of wood. He made my mother a biscuit board when she married. He had a workbench outside and like to spend time at it. He marveled many a grandchildrens eye with his stories. Pappy had a little dog when he got older called Nickodemus that sat on his lap. He sat for many hours with the little dog that he loved very much. -------------------------- Cadiz Record 3 Feb 1949 Ben Faughn is seriously sick at his home in the county. ------
