Faughn of near Bethesda. - Cadiz Record Oct 14, 1943 -------------- Cadiz Record Jan 1944 Old Bethesda News Pfc Alfred Faughn returned to Camp Rucker, Ala, after a seven day emergency furlough with his people. He was called home to attend the funeral services of his brother, Francis Faughn. --------------------- June 29, 1944 Word has been received this week by Mrs Alfred Faughn that her husband, Pfc Alfred Faughn has arrived safely overseas and should his friends care to write him his address is PFC Alfred Faughn, 35491327, Co G 320th Inf.; APO NO 35 Care Postmaster, New York, N.Y. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cadiz Record- Nov 2, 1944 Pfc Alfred Faughn In Hospital In Nashville --- Pfc Alfred Faughn is back in the States. He is now in Thayer Hospital., Nashville, Tn. and is doing fine. Among those who visited him from Cadiz last Wednesday were his wife, Mrs Alfred Faughn, parents, Mr and Mrs J.B. Faughn, sister, Mrs Lloyd Allen, brother Zan Faughn and Mr Clarence Wood. ------------------------------------------
  Cadiz Record Oct 1944 Trigg County Post of the American Legion has authorize the awarding of the Legion�s Gold Star Citation to �the next of kin� of Pfc Smith Bland, U.S. Army and Sgt Homer F. Barnes U.S. Army who recently have made �the supreme sacrifice� in France in the service of their county. The post also has awarded the Legion�s Silver Star citation to the following who have been wounded by enemy action, viz; Sgt James E. Smoot, Pfc Edison Feltner, Pfc Eldon Reed Ahart, Pfc Alfred Faughn, Sgt Gervis Reed Smith, 1st 1st Geo. C. Major, Cpl Thomas R �Ted� Sills, Pvt Fred Porter, Pvt Monroe Rogers and Hayden J. �Peck� Cox, U.S. Navy. All the above citations are ready for presentation.
  WWII VETERAN, PURPLE HEART RECIPIENT. -Uncla Alfred is a retired farmer and farmed many years in Trigg County. He loves to garden and fish. He married his childhood sweetheart during WWII and returned to service. He was wounded at the invasion of Normandy. He returned to Trigg Co and he and Aunt Beulah have a daughter of their own, Bonnie Carolyn, who resides in Trigg Co. Aunt Beulah had two children by a previous marriage to Matt Oliver, who died young and Phadie Alene and Owen Dorris Oliver were raised as Uncle Alfred's very own. After Aunt Beulah's death, Uncle Alfred remarried to Mrs. Pearl Calhoun of Trigg Co and they reside just outside Cadiz. They enjoy the senior citizen and church activities.==============================
  CADIZ, Ky. -- Services for Alfred Faughn, 86, Cadiz, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Canton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Cannon officiating.
  Burial will be in Hurricane Cemetery, Trigg County, with military rites at the grave. Visitation begins at 4 this afternoon at King's Funeral Home, and visitation will be from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and from noon until time for the service at the church.
  He died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at River's Bend Retirement Community, Kuttawa, of natural causes.
  A native of Trigg County, he was born July 5, 1913, the son of the late Ben and Annie Faughn. He was a farmer and a World War II Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Canton Baptist Church. His first wife, Cynthia Beulah Faughn, preceded him in death.
  Survivors include his wife, Pearl Calhoun Faughn; a son, Dorris Oliver, Trigg County; two daughters, Mrs. Bud (Carolyn Gibbs) Cannon, Cadiz, Mrs. Floyd (Aleen Oliver) Ashley, Hardin; two stepson, Billie Joe Stallons and Tim Stallons, both of Cadiz; a stepdaughter, Teresa Kennedy, Cadiz; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
