a. Note:   William Adam Fetz was born 20 Feb 1881, the fifth son and the sixth child of Charles Joseph Fetz and Josephine Schmitt, in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. William married Lula Mae Spainhour on April 10, 1902 in New Albany. William and Lula had 15 children. Lester, Josephine, Raymond, Lavina, Frances Earl, William Jr., Florence, James, Arthur, Charles, Helen and Harold, twins, George, Lawrence and Robert. The twins, Helen and Harold, only lived a short time after their birth on Mar. 02, 1919. Helen died on Mar 13, only 11 days after birth and Harold died on Mar. 14, one day later. Robert, the youngest of this family was born in 1924 and died Dec 14, 1931, after only 7 years. William started out as a peddler in New Albany in 1901, and for the most part continued to raise and peddle vegetables most of his life. During the 4 years that this family lived in Elwood, In. (1918-1921) William worked at Elwood Tin Plate factory on night shift from 4-12. He would walk to and from work daily, about 4 mile each way. Since he had to walk and it was cold during the winter months, Lula bought him a heavy coat to keep him warm. She said she paid 50 cents a week on the coat until it was paid for. ______________________________________________________________
