a. Note:   Fred is called Chas. in the 1880 census living with his parents in Lindeburg (now called Lindsborg), McPherson Co., Kansas just south of Salina. He moved with his family to Melbourne in 1887. He continued his education in Melbourne and in 1889 attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA of which his grandfather, William M. Fee, was co-founder. [Note: This "co-founder story" was taken from the obituary of Fred Fee. The Alumni office at Allegheny College does not show William as a co-founder. This may be a "family story".] He was living with his parents in Melbourne in 1900. He attended Stetson University in Deland, FL studying law under Judge Cary D. Landis. He received a Bachelor of Arts in 1905 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1906, a classmate of former Governor Doyle El Carlton. After graduation, he moved to Fort Pierce, St. Lucie Co. where he appears on the 1910 census.
He married Emma Morgan in September 1907 who came from a family who owned a large ranch and were one of the pioneer families in Florida. He was soon one of the best known figures in the St. Lucie County bar, and in the course of his legal career, was elected one term as county judge in 1906. In 1911, he represented St. Lucie County in the Florida Legislature. He continued his law practice residing at 819 Sunrise Blvd., Fort Pierce until he died in 1939.
[This put together from the census images, "Tales of Old Brevard"; "The East Coast of Florida"; "Florida, Historic - Dramatic - Contemporary, Family and Pictorial History", and his obituary.
