a. Note:   Minutes of the Common Council of the City of New York, 1784-1831 (Volume 10). Page 106 - CITY OF NEW YORK - 16 Nov. 1818:
 The Attorney, on the petition of Luke Gillen, reported: "That a Complaint was made at his Office against the said Gillen for selling liquor without license on various different times and also selling on Sunday : that Gillen denied the charge : a suit was commenced in the 3d Ward Justices' Court for selling liquor without licence : the cause was tried and judgment given against the said Gillen for Thirty seven dollars fifty cents."
