Note: Thomas Welch ,the earliest known of our Welch's, received a land grant from King George of England in 1725. The land was on Tin Potts and Licking Run creeks in Fauquier Co. Virginia. (Northern Great Neck Grant Book A, P-138) Thomas died abt. 1752 leaving sons: William, David, John, Joshua, Daniel, Benjamin (Fauquier Co. DB-1, P-511) 1725 - THOMAS WELCH obtained 1,267 acres on Tin Pot and Great Run on the north side of the Rappahannock River. His property adjoined HEDGEMAN, GARDINER,ESKRIDGE, & MORGAN. 1726 - Thomas Welch, 714 acres on Great Run on North Side of Rappahannock adjoining Nathanial Hedgeman. Surveyed by John Savage. September 1726. [VA Northern Neck Warrants & Surveys, Vol. IV, Joyner 1987, P. 125.] 1745 - THOMAS WELCH sued HEDGEMAN. 23 October 1752 Prince William County Minute Book - Page 71 The Last Will and Testament of THOMAS WELCH proved by the oaths of JOHN GARNER and PARISH GARNER two of the witnesses who made oath they saw JANE GARNER the other witness subscribe the same and admitted to record. JOSEPH BLACKWELL & JOHN BUTLER Executors therein named refused the burden of the Execution thereof on the motion of JOHN GARNER and JOHN WELSH they having made oath thereto Certificate is granted them for obtaining Administration of the Estate with the will annexed in due form. JOHN GARNER, JOHN WELSH, JEFFREY JOHNSON, & JAMES GARNER acknowledge bond for the faithful administration of the Estate of THOMAS WELSH dec'd which is ordered to be recorded. Ordered that JAMES WITHERS, WILLIAM MORGAN, BENJAMIN SUTTLE [SETTLE] & HENRY MAUZY or any three of them being first sworn before some Justice of the Peace of the said County appraise all and singular the Estate of THOMAS WELSH dec'd which shall be presented to their view.
