Note: N37 also Staats Flandreau, Statis B. Flandreau
aka Stephen B. Flandreau, aka S. B. Flanderson, aka Steven Alexander Flatbush, aka Theodore Flatbush, aka Alexander T. Flatbush, aka Thomas Flatbush, aka Alexander T. Barnes, aka Stephen Flandreau
The spelling of the names in the 1850 census is difficult to read in family listing; Stuats B was the closest I could figure, but that's a fair match to Staats, really.

Sherry Clark's notes:
"He enlisted at New Haven, Connecticut on December 31, 1863 as a private in Company H, 2nd Regiment, Connecticut Volunteer Artillary, under the name States B. Flandreau. He mustered out at Fort Eathan Allen, DC on August 18, 1865.
He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1866 [?] in New Haven, Connecticut.
He was 5 feet, 9 1/2 inches, light complection[sic], blue/grey eyes, sandy hair.
He was a painter.
Three of his wives (Elizabeth Seidel, Addie May Watson, and Lizzie (Cash) Summers, are not included in the widow pension papers because they had remarried after having him declared dead, thus they could not claim anything from the government.
He was buried at the National Military Home in Kansas on top of a hill under an oak tree. Someone said that he was buried there so that, even in death, he could keep an eye out for his many wives.
There is a Thomas Flatbush listed in the 1870 Omaha 5th Ward, Douglas County, Nebraska census on page 564."
