Note: According to records of Bill and Joy Brown, Mary (Schrader) Hubert was born on November 3, 1867, but the California Death Index online lists her year of birth as 1869. Also family records list her death date as 8 February 1952, but the California Death Index online lists it as 9 February 1952. On the California Death Index, her maiden name is listed as SCHROEDER instead of SCHRADER. And her mother's maiden name is listed as ENGLEHART. Family records also list John Peter Hubert as dying on 28 October 1941, but the California Death Index online lists his death as 30 October 1941. The California Death Index also lists his mother's maiden name as KEUTER. The Huberts immigrated to the United States from Russia in 1907. Those included in the immigration included their oldest children, son-in-law Phillip Stumpf, and John's brother, Jacob Hubert and family. A granddaughter, Mary Stumpf, was born on the ship on the way over to this country. When they first arrived in New York, some of the Huberts had to stay at Ellis Island because they had pink eye. After leaving New York, they went to the area around Green Bay and Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Huberts belonged to the Lutheran church. When Mary (Stumpf) Brown, their oldest daughter who was born at sea, needed to prove her birth, she wrote to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church at Green Lake, Wisconsin for a record of her baptism there. John Peter Hubert died on October 28, 1941 at the age of 76. Memorial services were held on November 3, 1941 at Lutheran Cross Church at the corner of San Diego and F Street in Fresno, California. He was survived by his wife, Mary, 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He also had one brother living, Jacob Hubert, of Santa Cruz, California. Mary Hubert died on February 9, 1952 at the age of 82. She was buried on February 12, 1952. John Peter Hubert and wife Mary are both buried in the Mountain View Cemetery at Fresno, California.
