Notes
a. Note:   Alex Miller was the oldest son of Hermann Friedrich Julius Miller and Wilhelmine (Schulz) Miller. He was born June 1, 1888, near Elkton, Mower County, Minnesota. He married Amanda Elizabeth Bolstorff on November 11, 1914 at St. Michael's Church. Amanda was born on July 7, 1892. They had a small farm near Lansing, Minnesota for many years, but Alex also worked at Hormel's for much of this time. Alexa and Amanda actually had eight children, but two died as infants. The six surviving children were Richard, Hedwig, Phillip, Alex Daniel (he goes by Daniel), Katherine and Nelly. Thus the family said they really never saw hard times during the Depression, and their son, Richard, got his first car at the age of 16 in 1931.
It is said that thy had a very stormy marriage, separating during the late 1940s or early 1950s before reuning around 1960. They lived in Austin, Minnesota after reuning and owned a home about one block away from their son Richard. They lived there the rest of their lives, passing away within weeks of each other in 1969. They are buried at Lansing, Michigan.
Alex Miller's last place of residence was Austin, Minnesota. (Source: Records of Kevin Miller.)
