Note: Richard Miller was born in 1915 at Lansing, Minnesota. He worked at many jobs as a young man, including farming and several different times at Hormel. Sometime during the 1930s he had a brush with the law, but this wan never mentioned, and so none of the relatives will ever tell us the details. At the beginning of World War II, Richard moved to Canada as a civilian contract worker on the Alaskan Canadian Highway. He met Olive Hissett there, and they were married on May 1, 1944, at Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Olive was not born in Canada eitiher. She was born in the town of Coxhoe, Durham, England. She had come to Canada with her parents in 1926 and lived in the area near Wainwright, Alberta. Their oldest daughter was born in Canada. They moved back to the U.S. in 1946 and lived in Austin, Minnesota, for the rest of their lives. The rest of their six children were all born and raised in Austin. (Source: Records of Kevin Miller)
