 (Source: tombstone reading, May 1987.) (A lifelong resident of San Bernardino valley, Walter Tompkins was a stock rancher in the San Bernardino-Mentone area. He hauled lumber off the mountains, raised stock, and managed the farms. He passed away suddenly with a heart attack at the age of 61. His wife, Lulu, was a native and lifelong resident of Mentone. She was a member of Neighbors of Woodcraft Circle 105, for over 50 years. She passed away at age 81. Walter and Lulu Tompkins had 6 children. They are both buried in the Tompkins plot at the Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, California.)30
