Note: The first mention I can find for Robert is when he is mentioned as "Constable" in 1756 166 – Apr. 17, 1864, registered May 1792. Lemuel Hatch states that sometime in the year 1756 at request of Emanuel Simmons, Abraham Bussett was summoned by Robert Grimes, constable, and came before Hatch and made oath as to boundary lines of land patented by John Simmons now in possession of Emanuel Simmons and states line is one mile higher up river.

From the wording of the will though, I honestly believe Lemuel and Nancy to be the oldest of the children. We know when Robert wrote his will in 1789 that Nancy was 12 years old, and according to the 1790 Census Lemuel was not yet 16.
The 1790 Census also shows that there are 6 females including Rebecca living in the household, yet only 4 of them are mentioned in the will so I don't know if these two girls were daughters who for whatever reason were not mentioned, perhaps infants, perhaps twins born between October 14, 1789 and the taking of the 1790 census or were just living with Robert and Rebecca at the time the census was taken. This latter possibility is the reason I have not included the two as "Unknown Daughter Grimes" in the listing of children as I feel certain that if these two girls were daughters he would have made some provision for them in his will.
As for the children, the only one I can find anything on is Alen Grimes who is found in the land records of Marengo County Al. before he falls off my radar so I believe he moved to Jefferson Alabama with his sister and brother-in-law.
