a. Note:   rmy during the whole of the first world war. Then after the war worked for his brother Alf as a pork butcher, journeyman. Alf had a shop on the high street Grantham. Up to 1920 Thomas travelled to work from Nottingham, then he met a man who lived in Grantham, but he worked in Nottingham. So they had a chat with thier wives and decided to exchange houses, and thats how the Cresswell family came to live in Grantham.
