"Joe served his country during World War 11 in the Navy as Gunner's Mate First Class on the light cruiser USS Concord, and the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa in the Pacific Theater. After the war ended he was a naval instructor in Washington, D.C. and San Diego, CA."

Joe was a member of the Palouse Christian Church. He was also a member of the Spokane Roadrunner's RV Club, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing."
