Note: Alvis and Maicie migrated to Bakersfield in 1951, where Alvis worked for Biggs Oil and Gas Company as a tank truck driver until 1960, when he assumed managership of Buck Owens Enterprises. With the exception of five years spent managing a cattle ranch in Paso Robles, he a\was a resident of the Bakersfield area more than 20 years, working as a ranch superintendent before retiring in 1973. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Oildale, California. Alvis was a very prominent figure at the Buck Owens Celebrity Golf tournaments, he announced opening play with a shotgun blast each of the four years. (Obituary, copy on file - Gaile McKinney)
