Im writing this to you, because a man i know in the village where i teach english, recently received information that you had sent concerning your ancestors here. The small village is called Krajn, and its located in western Slovakia, not too far from the Czech border. The obvious reason that im writing you is because Jan Marek, the man whom you have relation to, speaks no english. He asked me to write you a short message, saying that he received your info, and he is interested in forming a contact with you... From what i understood, getting it all from him in slovak, is that his aunt named Anna Marek Chromie, is your grandmother. Also, Jans father named Pavol Marek, is a brother of Anna. And, when Anna immigrated to USA, Pavol was four-years-old, and he lived from 1906-1969... Jan told me all of this today, and seemed very excited to connect with you somehow. He spoke of exchanging photos and things like that. I saw a few of the photos, and they are amazing. Old black and whites, with the women in the traditional folk garments native to this region of Slovakia... So, if you still have an interest to pursue this, you can write back at e-mail address: dmarkova@@zskrajne.sk Its an address of another colleague here in Krajne. Im sure they will pass it on to me to try and translate then. So, please...dont use many complicated words, since my slovak language is far from fluent. Thanks... Look forward to hearing from you. signing off for now, from Slovakia, SOURCE: Mick <dmarkova@@zskrajne.sk> Thu, 28 Feb 2002
