 "Laban Chappell, ordinance Sergeant for CoF, 12 SC Inf. Regt. CSA, was killed
 at Gaines Mill: he ewas not married and died intestate. Abner Turnipseed was
 appointed his administrator. The warrant for appraisement of his estate, dated
 28 July 1862 went to HA Glenn, Dr. Ira T. Smith and John M. Glenn."
  sometime before he and his family left SC, he fathered at least one child by a
 woman last name Brown. The child ws Lizzie or Elizabeth Brown. A descendant of
 Lizzie is Sherry Osborn of Rock Hill with whom I have corresponded re.
 genealogy. I have requested more information from her and I expect this will
 be coming soon. Grandma Abby's family was very offended that anyone would dare
 to besmirch James's good name by suggesting an illicit relationship. I am
 happy to know of this branch of the family and welcome my newly found cousins.
