Addington A. Garden, a resident of Gladwin County for more than 40 years, died at the home of his son, Godfrey, at Grage, Presque Isle County, Nov. 1, 1925, at 3:30 P.M., aged 89 years, 5 months, 5 days, after an illness of 8 days. The body was brought to Gladwin Nov. 4 and taken to the home of Adelbert Greer, where funeral services were held Thursday morning Nov. 5, conducted by the Rev. G. V. Dean, with burial in Ridge Cemetery beside his wife who died some years ago. Mr. Garden was born in New Brunswick, Canada, April 26, 1836, and was married there to Mary Farrand. To this union, four children were born, three sons and one daughter, as follows; Addington E., George W., Edna J. and Godfrey U., with three grandchildren, Miss May Garden and Mrs. Arthur Ogg of Gladwin, daughters of George W., and Mrs L. G. Terry of Seattle, WA, daughter of Edna J. Mr. Garden and sons were engaged in the sawmill business after coming to Gladwin, operating their mill in the Wright Lumber Co. railroad in Butman and later on their farm in Gladwin. ==================== The LDS site has Addington's name misspelled, Herington, in their transcription of the 1880 census. They also have Godfrey's name misspelled, Gaderey, and they have the last name misspelled Gardon. Also in the household in the 1880 census is John Sampson, single, male, white, age 26, born Canada, works on farm, father born Ireland, mother born Ireland, and Cora Nowlin, single, female, white, age 11, born MI, at school, father born MI, mother born MA.
