 Julius Burnett was born during September of 1863 in Georgia. He came to Polk County, Florida between 1880 and 1885. He married Miss Carey Hicks on 24 October 1886 in Polk County. She was a daughter of Henry Hicks and Ferraby Tillis. Julius and Carey Burnett were still living as late as 1900 in Polk County, Florida. No further record of them has been located. The Index to Florida Death Certificates contains no entry for Julius or Carey Burnett. The Index to Polk County Burials contains no entry for Julius or Carey Burnett. No probate action was filed in the Polk County Court systems for Julius or Carey Burnett.
 Julius and Carey Burnett were the parents of the following known children:
 1) Elizabeth Burnett - born August 1887 in Polk County
 2) Cora L. Burnett - born July 1888 in Polk County
 3) Ethel V. Burnett - born April 1890 in Polk County
 4) Harley Burnett - born January 1892 in Polk County

 On a final note: There seems to be some connection between James Henry Kirkland (born January 1853 in Georgia) and Julius Burnett. Before his marriage, Julius Burnett lived in the James Henry Kirkland household. After the death of Julius Burnett, the orphaned Burnett children lived with William Keen and his wife Lula R. Kirkland. Lula was a daughter of James Henry Kirkland. We are not able to engage in the extended research necessary to examine this connection.

 In Polk County 1990 Census, Julius and Carey were living as husband and wife with 7 children. Julius was a butcher and they lived in the Welaka section of Polk County.
