Note: (Research):Artical taken from Walker Co., GA Heritage 1833-1983 Cleveland Charles ROARK was born November 26, 1888 in the Garrett's Chapel Community where he lived his entire lifetime, a farmer and substitute rural mail carrier for the Chickamauga Post Office. The farm remains in the possession of the heirs. The son of Charles Henry and Elvira HAMILTON ROARK, pioneers who migrated to Georgia from North Carolina, he married Sarah Ona MOAD, daughter of Carrie WALLIN and James N. MOAD of Pond Springs, December 27, 1908. Of Dutch descent, Ona taught school at Hinkle on Lookout Mountain, Oak Grove, Garrett's Chapel and Pond Springs. The family were Methodists and attended Garrett's Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church South. Cleveland and Ona were the parents of four children: James Harrison: born February 1,1912; married Mary Ruth HAYS April 23,1938;diedJuly26,1982; interred in Chickamauga Cemetery; attended local and Chickamauga schools, University of Chattanooga (now UTC); associated with the dairy industry; drafted into the Army, World War II October 21, 1943, honorably discharged April 6, 1946; worked in Graphics Design at Combustion Engineering, Co., Chattanooga, Tennessee until a forced retirement due to ill health in 1973; belonged to Masonic Bodies in Chickamauga and LaFayette, Georgia and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Edwin Harold: born September 3,1914; attended schools locally, Chickamauga, and Chattanooga; drafted June 22, 1941 for Army Service, World War II; assigned to Army Air Corps, honorably discharged, recalled, and made a career of the Air Force; retired 1969. He fished commercially, farmed in Georgia; currently raising cattle and farming. He belongs to Masonic Bodies in Mont�gomery, Alabama and Chickamauga, Georgia. Dortha Lou: born November 17, 1920; attended local schools, married Charles Joe SHAHAN, son of Jessie Mae BOWEN and Drew SHAHAN, Chickamauga, Georgia, December 27, 1944; lived a short time in New Orleans, Louisiana; divorced November 1, 1951; lives at the farm home place with brother Edwin; presently employed at Tri-County Hospital, Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia; member of Flintstone United Methodist Church and Marthada Chapter #190, O.E.S., Chickamauga, Georgia. Cleveland Earl: born September 17, 1925; attended local schools; worked for Agricultural Extension Service, Athens, Georgia; drafted into Army, World War II March 21, 1941; honorably discharged; recalled and served actively and inactively until September 10, 1951; married in 1951 Sallie Virginia LeGETTE, daughter of Macie Holdon and Hannibal Kossuth LeGETTE of Centenary, Marion County, South Carolina, where they live and farm. Earl belongs to Masonic Bodies in Centenary, Chickamauga and LaFayette, Georgia; he and Vir�ginia belong to Swamp Fox Chapter #60, O.E.S., Marion, South Carolina; and Centenary Baptist Church. They have two sons: Charles Kossuth: born October 17, 1951; married Marcia Yvonne Anderson May 15, 1971; member of Masonic Lodge, Centenary; lives and farms near Centenary; Mareia leaches school. James Edwin; born September 27, 1957; married Lorraine June CLEMENS, of Baytown. Texas, October 3, 1981; live in Greensboro, North Carolina; both work in retail sales.
