a. Note:   cal Center, Hutchinson. He was born July 20, 1934, in Waverly, Mo., to Gene and Ethel Williams Borders. He graduated from Buhler High School in 1952. A resident of Nickerson since 1970, he worked for Betts Rainbo Bakery for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. He attended Hutchinson Wesleyan Church, was a former Hutchinson Reserve Police Officer, Goldwing Road Riders Association, Goldwing Touring Association, and was currently a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He liked being involved in archery, bowling and slow pitch softball. On Aug. 20, 1954, he married Catherine L. Siefert in Joplin, Mont. She survives. Other survivors include: four sons, Rick and wife Kim, Halstead, Randy and wife Debbie, Sterling, and Roger and Ron, both of Nickerson; a daughter, Robin Shultz, La Crosse; a brother, Orlan and wife Fran, Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Shawn, Robert, Michael, Tarynn, Kellie and Melissa Borders, and William Gates and Anthony Shultz. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don and Joe Borders, and a sister, Louella Unruh. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday June 5, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Nick Huck presiding. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Memorials may be sent to the Hutchinson Wesleyan Church or the Christian Motorcycle Association, both in care of the mortuary.
