 Tahoma Cemetery Records, Yakima, WA. !Walter, in his youth, caught wild horses on the range, hired localYakima Indians to break them, then sold the horses to the U.S. Army,during 1918-1920. He took up farming, cattle ranching, carpentry, andin retirement, became a lawn maintenanceman, & lastly a janitor for adepartment store.
 Immediately following the San Francisco earthquake, he answered thecall for help in repairing downed telephone lines in San Franciscoarea. After successfully repairing some lines, he called long distanceback home to the general store in his Washington State farming area,namely the small town of Bickleton. He left a message at the generalstore to get word, out to the farm where his future wife lived withher parents, to come into town the next day and be at the store'stelephone at a particular hour. Whereupon he called and
 proposed marriage to her. She at the time was 15 years of age and he27 years. She accepted and upon his return home, a little over twoyears later, they were married on 31 May 1910 in Columbus, KlickitatCo, WA. From thereon he affectionally called her his "Child-bride".They were married just a few days short of 51 years, at which-time shewas taken from all of who loved her, by that dreaded disease, cancer.
