Notes
a. Note:   Emil was pensioned early at age 40 following a disease in the first world war. He got a nervous illness as a result of combat. He was in Verdun and Sedan and had to transort dead bodies in the train. This made him unable to work.
The work was very hard and he was often gone for several days. He lived for two years in Karlsruhe with the riding artilary and one year in Berlin with the Guard Regiment. From this time he reported very little. In 1915 when the war started he had to go to Sedan and bring ammunition for the battle of Verdun. On the way back his train was full of wounded soldiers. At the age of 42 he returned broken in his soul and body and was sent into pension with a very low salary.
For the mother with seven children, an unimaginable task. Emil worked occasionally with neighbors but this did not bring anything. So mother knew only one task: to be a mother. With her rich constitution, her joy of singing and music.
