HACKLER, PATRICIA -- Patricia Baum Hackler 68, died at 11:25 am Friday November 17, 1995 at her home. She was born March 26, 1927 in Elizabeth City NC to Loyd Curtis and Frances Williams Baum.
She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg. She was employed by School District 108 in Pekin. She was director of the Suzuki Program in Pekin, Sun Foundation in Peoria and Pekin School of Music. She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota Music honorary fraternity and was a former member of SAI Quartet. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta social fraternity.
She was a member of Mortar Board. She was a founding member and a member of the board of directors of Central Illinois Youth Symphony. She was a member of Peoria Symphony Orchestra. She was presented a star in the Libra Constellation of the Milky Way Galaxy in 1985. She received the Outstanding Arts Award at the Pekin YWCA's Women's Recognition Day in 1986. She received the Teaching Award for Excellence from Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in 1988.
She was honored in a dedication of the Memorabilia Book in 1988. She was honored by a dedication concert given by Suzuki Children's Symphony of Japan in 1988. She was a member of the state board of Illinois Women's Golf Association and was a sustaining member of Pekin Hospital League. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pekin, where she formerly sang in the choir.
Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at her church. The Rev. Lloyd Johnson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation will be accorded, and burial of cremains will be in the church columbarium. Arrangements are by Woolsey Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 7 pm Tuesday by Patricia Baum Hackler Auditorium at Washington Junior High School in Pekin. Memorials may be made to Pekin School of Music, her church or the Sun Foundation.
