Notes
a. Note:   [From June 10, 1943 Walnut paper] Mrs. M. Hagge Laid to Rest Wednesday
Death came to Mrs. Maggie Hagge, a resident here for many years and a member of a pioneer family, early Monday morning, June 7, after she had reached the age of 87 years, eight months and two days. She enjoyed comparatively good health considering her age, until Sunday, June 6, when she became seriously ill. This illness won its way through death and she sank into final sleep at 4:30 a.m. Monday.
Maggie Siebke, daughter of Hans Siebke and Maggie, nee LaGrant, was born in Germany on October 5, 1855. When 1-1/2 years old, her father ventured to America, to establish a home in this country. He was one of the early day settlers. With her mother, Maggie followed her father to America only a year later, and the Siebkes made their residence at Davenport, where the young girl grew up and received her education. Later the family moved to Walnut.
She was united in marriage with Henry Hagge and continued to make Walnut her home. Mr. Hagge died, December 17, 1893, and Mrs. Hagge has since made her home with her children in Walnut.
Remaining to mourn her death are three childres, George A. Hagge of Glendale, Cal., Mrs. Ella Bay of Walnut, and Bertha, (Mrs. Ivan Madsen) of Walnut. A sister, Mrs. Caroline Dryer of New Liberty, one brother George Henzen, of Bettendorf, and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Reieck funeral home Wednesday, June 9, at 2 p.m. Rev. C. E. Gabler officiating. Interment was made at the Walnut cemetery.
