a. Note:   [Obituary from Walnut paper, Nov. 21, 1940] Walnut Man Dies In West
  Auguest A. Hagge Died November 15 in California.
  August A. Hagge, died at a hospital in San Bernardino, Calif., Friday, November 15. He had attained the age of 55 years, 8 months and 23 days.
  He was born in Walnut, Iowa, February 23, 1885, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hagge. He attended the Walnut schools and later was engaged in the livery business here for a number of years. He went to Canada in 1917 where he resided for five years. About 17 years ago he went to California, where he has since lived, being engaged in the gold mining and prospecting business.
  He leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, Mrs. Maggie Hagge, two brothers, P. H. O. Hagge of Walnut and George Hagge of Glendale, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Bay of Walnut and Mrs. Ivan Madsen of Sioux City. His father and a brother, Loius, passed away in 1893.
  The body was brought to Walnut Thursday evening and taken to the Rieck Funeral Home where it will lie in state until the hour of funeral. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Wm. Krummel officiating. Burial in the Walnut cemetery.
