Note: [obituary from the Walnut paper, Jan. 2 1947] George Hagge, 67, Passed Away in Glendale, Cal. Mrs. Ivan Madsen and Ella Hagge, the only surviving children in a family of six, received word last week Friday of the death of their brother, George Hagge, in Glendale, Cal. He passed away December 27, in a Glendale hospital where he was a patient for several weeks, the cause of his death being attributed to meningitis. Mr. Hagge, although in failing health tor the past two years, suffering with arthritis, remained active in his work until two months ago when he became critically ill. He had reached the age of 67 years, three months and 27 days. Born at Walnut, Iowa, the son of Henry and Maggie Hagge, who were old pioneers here, he spent most of his life in this vicinity. He was married to Lena Buttenschon, also of Walnut, and for a number of years they farmed south of town, until 1936 when the family moved to Glendale. Four children were born to this union, who with his widow are left to mourn his passing, The children are Mrs. Irene Brackhahn, Mrs. Esther Roethlisberger, Wilbert and Norman Hagge, all of Glendale, Cal. Other survivors include three grandchildren and two sisters; Mrs. Ivan Madsen and Ella Hagge of Walnut.
