a. Note:   Funeral Saturday for Emma Kinley Area Resident Many Years
  Mrs. Emma D. Kinley, 87, of Bengal township and also a former resident of St. Johns, died Wednesday eveying, April 18, at Clinton Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient at the hospital three months, and for several months in a nursing home.
  Funeral services were held Saturday, April 21, at the Osgood Funeral Home at 2 p.m. The Rev Norman Crotser of the Bengal EUB church officiated and burial took place at the Beach cemetary in Essex township.

  EMMA KINLEY was born in Hillsdale county on August 11, 1874, the daughter of Henry and Adelaide Wilcox Howe. She moved to Kalkaska county as a small child. She was married at South Boardman on Dec. 29, 1895 to Frank E. Kinley, and since their marriage lived in Clinton county. Mr. Kinley died in 1934. After her husband's death she moved to St. Johns where she lived at 511 W. State street until 10 years ago when she went to live with her children.
  Mrs. Kinley is survived by one son and three daughters: Wilbur Kinley or Pas Paw; Mrs. Frances Smith of Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. Mildred Mohnke of R-4, St. Johns and Mrs. Cora Kerr or Oak Park, Ill. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Nettie Cushman of Trout Creek, UP; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
  Gordon Kerr, husband of Mrs. Kinley's daughter Cora, just died the Saturday previous.
