Note: Henry Asa Herring is listed in the Household of Nehemiah G. Herring on the 1850 Nodaway County, Missouri Census records, page 390.
I know that Mary Sharp was not the mother of any of the three oldest children and may not be the mother of any of the first six listed. She married Nehemiah Herring in 1845. The 1840 Platte County Missouri census lists Nehemiah Herring with three children in age brackets that match the ages of the three oldest children.
Nehemiah Herring was appointed Guardian of Martin V. Herring and Jacob M. Herring in 1857.
Andrew Jackson's birth date on his civil war pension record lists his birth date as November 15, 1844. The 1900 census also lists his birth date as Nov. 1844.
Green Herring Is listed as the father of Andrew Jackson Herring on his death certificate with his mother unknown. I have also found a rootsweb database that lists Elizabeth Jane Herring's father as Green Herring.
