Note: Mary Herring was listed as the head of household along with her younger children in the 1870 census. The Information was extracted from the 1870 Livingston County Missouri Cenus records. They were the 14th household enumerated on the 25th of July 1870 at the Spring Hill Post Office Jackson Township. M593 R789.
Listed as Benjiman Franklin Herring (single) the son of Nehemiah Herring and Sarah Sharp on his death certificate. The informant was L. D Herring. Sarah Sharp could not have been his mother because his father (Green Herring) married Mary Sharp in 1845 in Andrew County Missouri), But it appears that Nehemiah had previously married Sarah Sharp and there was some confusion in the family as to which children was born to which mother. Mary is listed as the wife of Nehemiah in the 1850 census, and as the mother of Benjiman in the 1870 and 1880 census records. I have not been able to find the household of Nehemiah and Mary Herring in the 1860 census, but I know he was still alive.
