Note:   W. L. Tingley was described as "our friend and fellowcitizen." This edition came out on Friday. W. L. Tingley passed away the previous Monday night after a thrree-year battle trying to recover from influenza. He was 76 years old. His brothers, Jared Tingley of Lamont, Oklahoma, and John Tingley, of Montpelier, Ohio, were notified. Jared arranged for his brother to be buried in Mancos. The American Legion and the Grand Army veterans took care of his body. The funeral service was held at the Odd Fellow Hall and was conducted by the Baptist Church, of which he was a member. W. L. was a veteran of the Civil War. "Mr. Tingley was a good citizen and a kindly, good man, as Mancos people have known him for years, and all who knew him will feel that they have lost a friend."
