Note:   Andrew Hahn owned a sawmill and taught his sons the trade. In the fall of 1840, Andrew and Mary traveled to Boone County Missouri by steamboat and the following spring of 1841, they went overland by ox team to Holt County with four children; Richard, Daniel, Leah and Nancy. Andrew took out a land patent in 1846, (land records of Holt County). Andrew left no will but there are many papers regarding the settlement of his estate. Mrs. Montgomery offers places of birth for all of Andrew's children but offers no reference on most of them.

6. Note:   on 1 Apr 1820, Andrew acquired 147 acres of land, in Section 6 of Springfield Twp., from his father. He also received the privelege of water for his saw mill and the responsibility of maintaining the dam on Peter Hahn's (his brother) tract and of maintaining the race which ran through Peter's land and Henry Eyster's land. Henry was married to Andrew's sister, Catherine.

Note:   Alice Montgomery, author of The Seeds of Andrew Whiteleather, includes in her book on page 196 a picture of a marriage record from Columbiana County, Ohio, Book 1, pg 37. The record is for Adam Hahn and Magdalana Weisleder, married 19 Apr 1808. She cannot figure out why Andrew's name is shown as Adam. But is it really supposed to be Adam? The identical dates make one think it is really supposed to be Andrew. Needs some investigation. Mrs. Montgomery says the marriage took place in North Georgetown but offers no reference. In Ohio Marriages Recorded in County Courts Through 1820, an Index, Jean Nathan, Chairman, Ohio Genealogical Society, 1996, p. 427: Adam Hahn, Magdalena Weisleder Apr 19 1808 Colu 001 037. This is the same date shown in the Hahn family Bible. Either 1. Andrew's name was mistakenly written as his father's when recorded in the county book, or 2. Adam really did marry a girl with the same name as his son's wife and Adam and Andrew married these two Magdalena Weisleders on the same day!
