Note: Pink Lutes was a cousin to Monroe and Joe Lutes, both married Emmaline's sister. Pink grew up in his cousins' household like a brother.

Vine on the west side According to the city directories it appears Will was the first Lutes to arrive in Wichita. His Aunt Lavina Lutes showed up the next year in 1888. Then in 1889, his Uncle Joe Lutes makes his first appearance in the city directory.
