Note: Interesting information extracted from the military pension record of Thomas J. Hahn: Thomas enlisted 1 Sep 1861, Iowa Point, Kansas, age 18, and again 26 Sep 1863 at Fort Scott, Kansas. Was discharged at Fort Gibson, Indian Territory, 25 Jun 1865. Submitter believes this to be the present day Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Physical description was 5' 7", fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes. At Mazard Prairie about 12 miles from Ft. Smith, Arkansas, on 23 Sep 1864, "he was wounded by a musket ball in the right arm below the elbow making a fracture of both bones of the fore arm and a shortening of the arm. This wound was received in action with the enemy while in the line of duty serving as one of a detachment of men commanded by Captain Henry and sent out by order of the commanding officer of Fort Smith." He was treated at Fort Smith General Hospital for nine months until his regimet left. He followed his regiment and was then treated by the regiment surgeon until discharge. This wound made him almost wholly disabled. He was a farmer. After his discharge he lived in Jasper County, Missouri; and Fanning, Doniphan County Kansas, 1878; Brown County Kansas, 1883 and 1886; Walnut Township, Brown County, Kansas, 1892; eastern part of Carson District, Brown County, Kansas, 1893 and 1894.

Note: Walnut Twp, Thomas Hahn age 33, married, farmer, born Missouri, parents born Ohio. Also enumerated in househole is E. D. Brownlee, age 23, brother-in-law, widowed, laborer, born Pennsylvania, father born Ohio, mother born Pennsylvania. [Thomas' wife Lydia's maiden name was Murphy. Maybe Lydia had a sister married to E. D. Brownlee. This would make him Thomas' brother-in-law. Or E. D. may have been a husband to Thomas' sister Eliza Catherine. We don't know much about her.]
