Note: Reuben was one of the leading brewers in Philadelphia, PA and was the one chosen to lead the company of Master Brewers in the noted Federal Procession of July 4, 1780 to celebrate the adoption of the Constitution of the United States. He was a neighbor and friend of Benjamin Franklin and took an active interest in civic affairs. As early as 1745 he was a member of the Fellowship Fire Company of Philadelphia and in 1779 he was its clerk. Reuben dealt extensively in real estate and owned many tracts of land in the undeveloped sections of Pennsylvania.
