He married (3) Mary Ann Smith Jackson March 07, 1866 in Anderson County Texas. She was born February 28, 1840, and died April 01, 1929.

 On 11,19,1858 Alfred sold his land and left for Texas "with 2 wagons and two teams on the land route" He first settled in Montalba near Palestine in Anderson County.He aquaired 1100 acres of land.
