Gunhild Olsdtr. Vold married Peter J. Hansen, a Dane, in Worth County,Iowa. She and Peter J. Hanson lived in Wheeling Township, Rice Countyin 1900. They are enumerated on the Rice County, Federal Census of1900.
Peter was born in January of 1866 and was of Danish descent. The twodaughters, Olga and Laura, were not living at home with Peter andGunhild in the 1920 census. They were not married at the time ofGunhild's death.
OBITUARY
Mrs. P.J. Hanson Called Hence
Death has again invaded our peaceful hamlet and removed from amongstus a person singularly loved and respected. After suffering patientlyfor several months, Mrs. P.J. Hanson passed to the great beyond at7:30 P.M. Friday, July 2nd. Death was due to cancer of the bowels.Relief was sought in an operation last winter but the disease hadprogressed so far that apparently there was no means of staying itscourse. She became resigned to the inevitable and awaited withpleasure the hour of her deliverance, passing away with a smile on herlips and full of confidence in her Saviour.
A short funeral service was held over the remains Saturday noon at theSynod Church. Rev. Bernards preached the sermon and spoke feelinglyof the virtues of the deceased, of her faith, devotion to duty, andperfect trust in God.
The body was taken to Northwood, Iowa to be laid beside those of theparents of the deceased, Mr. Hanson and daughters accompanying same.They left Saturday evening via Karlstad.
Gunhild O. Vold was born near Northfield, Feb. 1, 1870 When fiveyears old she moved with her parents to Elk Creek, Iowa. September17th, 1891,, she was married to Peter J. Hanson at Elk Creek, Iowa.Later she and her husband moved to Nerstrand Minnesota livingalternately a few years there and at Elk Creek, Iowa. Eighteen yearsago the family moved to Badger where they have lived almostcontinuously since.
Deceased is survived by her husband, two daughters, Olga and Laura,six brothers, Halgrim, Albert, Tom O. Syver O., Carl, and Knute Vold,and two sisters, Miss Anna Vold and Mrs. Oluf Brunsvold, all living atNorthwood Iowa except Mrs. Brunsvold and Albert Vold who live atKensett.
The many friends of the family sympathize deeply with them in theirsad bereavement.
