Note: N4563 Dear Cynthia: When I first read your message I was intrigued andbecause my Uncle Len recently completed a Hellerud family history Iwas rather easily (if not speedily) able to confirm that Yes in factthere is a connection. It appears that My ggggrandfather was HelgeOlsen and his father's name was Ole Helgesen Jellum (this namedifference is explained by the practice of taking the name of thefarm the people worked on and Ole Jellum worked on the Hellerud farm).Jon (born 1823) is listed as one of the sons of Ole HelgesenJellum(b.1795) & Ingeborg Kliev (b.1795)...so it appears that JonHellerud was a brother of my ggggrandpa Ole. We show that Ole &Ingeborg had three other children besides Jon & Helge: Ragnild (B1817died in infancy), Stiner(b1819) and Nils (b.1829). There is a specialnote that goes with NILS and I will transcribe it as it appears in my book:ON NIL'S BAPTISM RECORD, THE FAMILY NAME IS VOLD(NOT HELLERUD ORJELLUM), BUT HELLERUD WAS PART OF THE VOLD FARM IN Fl?,HALLINGDAL,Norway - SO IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE SAME PLACE. SOME OF THE SPONSORSWERE THE VOLD FAMILY, SUGGEST THEY WERE RELATIVES OF OLE OR INGEBORG. Helge married Ingeborg Thresdtr. Tollefsrud, Jan 9, 1851. In 1854Helge(with his wife) and three brothers left for America - route:Drammen, Norway to Quebec to Hamilton County, Wisconsin then in 1857to Norway , Lake Minnesota. Now, there are 12 children born to thesetwo...and in the records three have *Rice County listed as place ofbirth. (i will list the names and birth dates:b.1851-Norway),Ingeborg(b1852) no birth place,Even(b1885 HamiltonCounty), Niels (b 1857 Rice County), Anders (b1859 Rice County), Randi(b1860 - died in infancy),Stiner(b1862) Rice County, Randi (b1868 Norway Lake) Kristie (b1867 Norway Lake), Oline(b1869Kandiyohi County),Kari(b1871 Kandiyohi County), & Maria (b.1887Kandiyohi County). Anders is my Great Grandfather. If you want I canput you in touch with my Uncle Len who did all the research. Therecords I have do not touch further on Jon.
