Note: N4627 You will find Flaa / Flaae / Flø as an Annex in N?s Prestegjeld,Buskerud. I started with finding HALGRIM SYVERSEN (#3878) in the 1801-telling,on the VOLD / WOLD farm in N?s. He is living with his family: Syver Halgrimsen (father), age 47 (2nd marriage) Ragnil Østensdatter (mother), age 36 (1st marriage) HALGRIM, age 10 (about 1791) Elie, age 6, and (about 1795) Guri, age 3 (about 1798) "http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=2&filnamn=f10616&gardpostnr=146&sokefelt=skjul" This Halgrim Syversen should not be confused with the 26-year-old man of the same name living at Espeset. They were having babies about the same time, as well. And living on the Seavre farm during the 1801-telling is (#1455) Anneolsdtr., age 12 (abt 1789): "http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=10&filnamn=f10616&gardpostnr=50&sokefelt=skjul" Sigurd or Syver/Siver was enumerated in the 1801 census record suggesting a birth date of 1754. In the Nes, Buskerud, parish records we found the following: Nes baptism, 9 December 1754, Halgrim Rouk and Barbor Jacobsdtr.'s - Siver. Witnesses to Sigurd's marriage were Ole Gulsvik and Thor Amundsen Wiig. The name has been spelled several ways: Sjugard or Sigurd or Syver. Sigurd translates to Sever in English. The Index to the Nes Hallingdal Probate Records 1672-1811 included tworeferences to Halgrim Andersen and Barbro Jacobsdtr.. The first one does not give much information, although it does include the farm nameof Rouch (Rauk) which checks out with Siver's baptism record. The other record suggests that they were living on the Savre farm in Nes in 1768. This record includes the names of the children including Syver, age 14 years. Having the year of 1768, we next searched for the burial record for Halgrim. It appears that he was buried 2 September 1767 and was 47 years of age at the time of his death. (May10, 2001 - Vesterheim Genealogical Center and Naeseth Library,Madison, WI) Fl? HALLINGDAL 1920 GAARDS HISTORIE BOK (Farm Book) THE HISTORY OF THE VOLD GAARD Hans Hegna compiled a history of the farms in Hallingdal. According to Hans's writings of the Vold gaard, page 120, # 25, The Vold farm has several sections as pictured and described.. The sections are listed in the copy of the Hegna information in Appendix A. It helps to know that bn = a number. sk = means skyld, a number refers to a special amount about farms. Eier= owner, fulgardsmand =owner of the whole farm. Vold gaard is mentioned in the archives in Denmark, written in Latin. Therefore, the early spelling of the V is W. Variations on the spelling noted: Wold 1578; Wolld 1604; Woldt St. S. 126 and Woll 1657;Wold 1723 2 op sit ere. Thanks to John Wasylow, genealogist for the Hallingen, this is what we know on the Gulsvik-Vold family gaard: 1. HELGE Guttormsen Gulsvik 1482-1563. Helge owned all of Gulsvik. After his death the farm was divided for the first time amongst his children. 2. BJORN Helgesen Gulsvik inherited one half of Lower Gulsvik whichbecame Bjornsgard. His brother, Sigurd Helgeson received the other half. Their brother, Jon Helgeson Gulsvik inherited Upper Gulsvik.(Bjorn, Sigurd, and Jon are all direct ancestors of Carl Otto Vold)3. Bjorn Helgesen son: SIGURD Bjornsen Gulsvik inherited the landafter Bjorn's death. Sigurd Bjornsen died about 1621. 4. Sigurd's son, NIELS Sigurdsen Gulsvik inherited the whole Vold farm. He lived on (Southern Olasgarden) and died in 1648. His widow was Randi Helgesdtr. Frovoll of Eggedal born about 1600 - probate1671. She remarried Halgrim Olsen Gulsvik in 1648. Children of Niels and Randi were Kari 1620-1693. Eli, who died about 1662, Sigurd Nielsen Vold, Helge 1630-1699, Knud Nielsen 1616; Tord Gulsvik-Hilde 1635-August 18, 1671, and another Kari who died in 1698. 5. Niels' son, SIGURD NIELSSEN Gulsvik-Vold 1629-1691 married Birgit Olsdtr. Vold (who is already an ancestor of Carl Vold). Sigurd Nielssen died in 1730. Birgit remarried to Ellef Pederson Medbøen (who was a cousin). Ellef died in 1761. The Flø history states that Ellef Pedersen's son bought the farm in 1707. In 1650, Sigurd Nielssen Gulsvik-Vold was farming with his father-in-law, Olav Olavsson. Olav had a lawsuit with somebody that claimed a part in Vold named Rud. "It was a heavy-wide case. Of the result is only to say that after this, the Rud farm which had been another farm then became part of the Vold farm. Olav was a powerful man and a juryman in 1675, 1678, and 1680." Sigurd's brother Knud Nielsen lived on the farm while Sigurd lived on Medalgaard in Gulsvik. In 1691, Olav used one part of the farm and Ellef Pedersen used the other half. After Sigurd's death, Birgit's second husband, Ellef Pederson Medbøen continued to use half the farm and Birgit's father,Olaf Olavsson, farmed the other half. 6. In 1707, Ellef's son, SJUGARD ELLEFSEN VOLD bought the farm in1707 and divided it between his sons. After 1729, Ellef's son,Sjugard or Sigurd (Syver) owned the whole farm alone. This SJUGARD(b. 1754) was the most famous farmer in this time. He was privileged to assist the priest and served as the local sheriff in Flø. Normally, the court was held at Vold gaard even if the sheriff did not live there. 7. In 1742, SJUGARD ELLEFSEN VOLD divided the farm between his threesons. Per received 2.5fj. Mellom Vold. OLAV received 1.5 fj. and 2 set leased that the Nes church owned. Knud received 1fj. south. In Upper Vold, in 1749, a contract was signed with the neighbor farms about the probate lines. 8. Upper Vold, now farm number 1, 3 - OLAV SJUGARDSEN took possessionof his part in 1756. At Olavs death, the inheritance of the farm wasdivided like this: The youngest son, Hans Olavson received onequarter part of the farm. The oldest, ?ysteins successors, inheritedthe remaining portions. 9. It was SJUGARD ELLEFSEN'S grandson, OSTEN OLSEN Vold that was marrried to Guri Trulsdtr. Kolsrud ( a cousin) and they had bn. 3 and 4 of Upper Vold. Their children were Ragnild born in 1767, Kristiborn in 1779, Syver (Sigurd) born in 1771. After Sjugard died, Guri remarried to Knud Guttormsen Gandrud. Gurithen owned bn. 3&4 of Upper Vold. Guri and Guttorm's children were Østen Rauk, 1775-1805, Guttorm Børtnes 1777-1840, Christi 1779, Margit, born in 1781, who married Ole Gulbrandsen Devegge, and Truls Bortnes born in 1784. 10. Guri died in 1792, and the Vold gaard was sold at auction the next year to her son, SJUGARD ØSTENSEN Vold and Sigurd(Syver) Halgrimson Vold who was a cousin married to his sister, Ragnild. Sigurd Østenson was Guri's son, and her daughter, Ragnild Østensdaughter Vold had married Sigurd Halgrimsen Vold. Halgrim Sigurdsen (Sievertsen or Syversen) Vold became the next owner of Voldgaard. He married Anne Olsdtr. Sefre ( See the book by Sigmund Sevre:Sevre-Slekt for documentation on the combination of the families.) All but one of their children became the emigrants to America. Ole Halgrimsen Vold, the last Vold owner of the Vold gaard sold the farm in1861 and moved to America. The Vold farm was sold to the church singer.
