Note: N4732 [SOGNEFJORD.FTW] Second of the family to emigrate was Inga Bendiksdtr. with her husbandPer (Peter) Erikson Rosheim. They were married on 17 April, 1854, andemigrated the same year to Spring Grove township, Houston County,Minnesota to live near Peter's two brothers, John and Botolf, andJohn's family. The couple had one son, Bendik, who was born probablyin 1855. Peter, Inga, and Bendik are found inthe cesus of 1860, 1865,living in Spring Grove township but no longer there in 1870. It waslearned from two sources (from Rosheim relatives in Flandreau, SouthDakota and from Synnove Holstad Smedsdal in Norway that Inga killedPeter with an ax. The dates and places for Peter's and Inga's deathshave not been determined. The information wehave has been from census records wehre the familyis shown as Erickson, and not Rosheim. The 1865 census lists Inga asinsane. It also appears to be checked for Peter to be in themilitary, but a search of Civil War records brought nothing. The son, Bendik, is in the 1880 census for Dakota Territory, MoodayCounty, Flandreau township listed as Bendik Peterson, age 24, livingwith John and Brisa Rosheim and family. Information from Mrs. RayRosheim, Flandreau had a homestead in South Dakota but becamedespondent over a broken love affair in Minnesota, sold his land andwas not heard from after this.
