Note:   N4733 The only photo of Marta (Maita) is in the possession of Cynthia Vold Forde; it is also the only photo of the Turvold farmhouse that used to sit where the Diamond Casino is located today. iEveryibe aooears sadl; it was probably taken the day of a funeral because a white casket is on the porch. It is not possible to tell which person has died since several of her dchildren died from a fever within a year’s time. An interesting feature of the photo is a space and shape that resemble a man but no one is there. Obviously it has something to do with the photography in the early 1890’s.
  Marta Bendiksdtr. Holstad is listed in Utv. bok 909 in Norway. The family story is that Marta (or Maita) became pregnant and chased Ole to America.
  Marta and Ole were both blind at the time of their deaths. Marta died on May 3, 1922, at age 77 and Ole died in 1925 at age 82. They are buried at Shell Rock Cemetery near Northwood.
