  From Rootsweb Family Tree, J. M. Lawrence Jr., 2006, jmljr39@@swva.net (T. Wilkerson TCWilk@@aol.com):
Alice Winifred Avent's parents were William R. Avent (Oct 9, 1821-- Dec 24, 1878) and Rebecca J Hervey (May 17, 1827 -- Oct 1, 1858). They married Jul 27, 1848. They had a daughter (Alice) and Alice had a half-sister named Gussie who was a painter. Gussie was an individualist who had a mind of her own in a time when it was not fashionable. [NOTE: my wife has an original pen and ink drawing by Gussie and has the oil painting kit that still contains original oils] Gussie married Charlie Goodwin who had a hardware store in Water Valley. [ NOTES: (1) A daughter of Wm and Rebecca Avent named Mary was Louise Ford's mother. (2) Mrs M. E. Avent died Feb 16, 1905. (3) Mrs. J. L. Avent died Feb 19, 1905.]
