  Lived in NeuSandec (in Western Galicia), Austro-Hungarian Empire (pres ent-day Nowy Sacz, Poland). Moved with his wife to Satoraljaujhely (i n present-day Hungary). Emmigrated to the United States with his wif e and child, Fanny, in 1889 or 1890, and lived in New York City for two years before moving to Chicago. Was a gifted violinist, with perfect pitch, and led the Royal Hungarian Orchestra that played at the Chicago Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. Left for the west coast in 1903.
