Continued: San Jose Mercury Herald, October 15, 1921, page 7, col. 4 Hugh Dougherty Died at Oakland Yesterday Was Father of Two Well-Known San Jose Attorneys Hugh Dougherty, father of Police Judge Thomas R. Dougherty andAttorney Hugh J. Dougherty of this city, passed away in Oakland early yesterday morning after an illness of some duration. The deceased was formerly connected with the Southern PacificRailroad company with whom he held a responsible position in the construction department. The body will be brought to this city for interment but details of funeral arrangements had not been completed last evening. Page 14, col. 2 DIED DOUGHERTY--In San Francisco, Cal. October 14, 1921. Hugh Dougherty, father of H. J., Thomas R. and the late William J. Dougherty, grandfather of Mrs. John E. Britschgi, a native of Ireland, aged 77 years, 9 months and 5 days. Friends are invited to attend the funeral Monday, October 17, 1921, from residence funeral prlors of W. B. Ward Undertaking Co., North Market Street, at Devine, at 9:30 a.m., thence to St. Patrick's Church where requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment Calvary. Dougherty (grandson) Oct. 17, 1921 page 8, col. 2 same as above San Jose Mercury Herald, October 18, 1921, page 11, col 6 Many Attend Service for Hugh Dougherty Funeral services for Hugh Dougherty were held yesterday morning from the parlors of the W. B. Ward company, thence to St. Patrick's church, where the Rev. Father Richard Collins of St. Patrick's and the Rev. Father John B. McNally of St. Leo's church celebrated a low requiem mass. The attendance of a host of friends and a profusion of beautiful flowers showed the high esteem in which the deceased was held.Interment was at Calvary cemetery. J. Charles Hines, George Sturges, John B. Shay, Richard McMann, Walter McGinley and Edward Distell served as pallbearers. The deceased passed away in San Francisco on October 14. For some years he had been connected with the Southern Pacific railroad in the construction department. He was a former resident of this city,having lived for many years at Tenth and San Salvador streets, and was a well-known contracting painter. He is survived by two sons, Police Judge Thomas R. Dougherty and Attorney Hugh J. Dougherty, both of this city and two grandchildren, Mrs. John E. Britschgi and William J. Dougherty.
